[A call in Hebrew to all the opponents of the settlements was published by Matzpen as an ad in the Hadashot daily on February 9, 1988, under the headline Don’t Buy<\/strong>. The ad<\/a> said: Everyone can do this little thing, every day: at least don’t fund them, do not buy the produce of the settlers!
\nA month later, the following letter was handed by Matzpen members to diplomatic delegations in Israel and in Occupied East Jerusalem.]<\/p>\n

The United Nations organization, as well as many governments and non-governmental organizations, have more than once condemned the Israeli settlements in the territories occupied by Israel since June 1967, as illegal according to international law.<\/p>\n

We in Israel have launched a campaign directed against the economic base of these settlements. We have called all the opponents of the settlements to boycott all products originated from Israeli firms in the occupied territories.<\/p>\n

We hereby request you, as a representative of your government in Israel, to take action along these lines: deny access to your country to goods produced in the settlements; deny them any special treatment due to Israeli goods according to existing and future commercial agreements; declare any commercial ties with these settlements illegal.<\/p>\n

In case your government has already prohibited such commerce, or is going to limit it, please let us know.<\/p>\n
